The gut (ie, your gastro tract!) is integral for processing & absorbing nutrients, immune function, and warding off infections. The link between the gut & brain capability has been well documented. A healthy gut features a balance of bacteria & microbes that need probiotics to thrive. Probiotics are found in fermented foods like miso & pickles, yogurt, and dairy & need prebiotics to be activated in the body. Prebiotics are found in high fiber foods as well as dandelion greens, alliums like garlic, onions & leeks, asparagus, sunchokes, bananas, barley, oats, flax, mushrooms, potatoes, honey and apples.
